Re: A New Barbara's Reflections is on the home page and Yes I did correct the spelling of my Own Name! From: Barbara (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 14 May 1999 18:37:30 -0500 (CDT)
Jean my dear Cyber Friend, How are you? I guess because I am so cute for my age you didn't suspect.........that I am/about to be Not a smoker. I loved your post and you have some very good ideas there about Pretending to hold one when on the phone or driving. Dr. Carter told me to get the Nicatrol or whatever the name of it is, the thing that looks like a cig that you can use instead of the patch. He said it satifies that urge to hold something in your hand and still gives a bit of nicotine for the beginning of the quitting peroid. I am off to ACOG on Sunday and won't get the Rx till I rturn next wek so with that and the take the Welbrutin for 3 weeks before quitting it will be a month before the Big Day. The secret to this medication is it sends a message to the part of your brain that craves the nicotine that you don't want it. I sure do hope it works for me as I am really sick of it. I also loved your line about how terrible smokers look.....We really do expecialy now that we have to sneak around to find a place where we can have on. Austin is a clean air city and there is No Smoking in any building or resturant in the city ecxcept bars. I am not a big frequenter (sp) of bars so that leaves me in a bit of a pickle. Thank you for the kind words about my Reflections. I have gained as much as anyone by writing them. I will do more of them and I again thank you for missing me. Hugs, Barbara
