allergy to semen or possible infection?

My husband and I have been using condoms as well as Ortho-Tricyclen as methods of birth control. We have had intercourse without the condom but always put one on before ejaculation.

Recently we decided that after a month of the pill and being roughly 21 days until my next period that we would fore-go the condom. An hour after ejaculation I continued to experience muscle tightening, leaking of fluids (mostly his, I assume), sensitivity and burning.

Upon examination, my labias were red and HUGE... when touched, they burned and felt padded. My husband suggested that I shower. After more leaking, the shower and another hour, I felt the tension leave but it was still rather sensitive.

I have had the same results from using spermacides before... but had never been exposed to semen before. Also I have very severe allergies all times of the year and to certain detergents. Could I be allergic to my husband as well?!

This was extremely uncomfortable and a scary experience. I have read the posts about semen allergies but am a little confused as to whether or not this is a rare condition or more common than thought. Of course, I will be going to see my gyn but any suggestions or similar experiences would be appreciated.

thanks! Renee
