Re: bartholin's cyst

Sharrise, I had a Bartholin's cyst that was surgically drained twice and wouldn't clear up. After 2 years I went and had it "removed". Little did I know the doctor (who isn't my doctor any more, needless to say!) actually only "marsupialized" it, making it smaller. Afterward, when it kept acting up, she told me what she had done and said it was very rare for it to recur like that and that it "couldn't" be removed entirely. I was furious. I went to another doctor and was so terrified during the physical exam that he would hurt it (it was extremely tender) that I began to cry. He said, "Well, then, let's take it out." I have had NO problems since and have noticed no lubrication problems, which they told me I might have.

The bottom line, I guess, is make SURE they really did remove it totally instead of just marsupializing it. And I can attest to my own personal experience with total removal being nothing but positive. Good luck.
