Dear Caryn,

I like the way you spell your name. I have a daughter Karen the old way but I have never seen it spelled this way befor..Very Pretty.

Now to your questions.

Mom BC at 70y/o, maternal grandmother died of uterine cancer You are worried about what you should do.

1 I would have a Baseline Mammogram done and a follow-up every couple of years and then around 40 Every Year.

Your physician is correct that your mother probally developed age-related BC. It is far more common as we age to have this form of cancer. Rates for this jump for every year we live over 60. Similair to Prostate Ca in older men. Rare in younger men but not Never.

Do monthly breast exams in the shower......Best place to do them as you are rubbing around anyway and yoou can just do an exam monthly with no special timing.

I found my lump this way. It's amazing how we are used to our bodies and how they feel and as soon as we spot something different.....we Know it wasn't there before.

Iam not going to tell you not to worry because that is very silly of me. But I do think if you have a gyn exam yearly, follow my above thoughts about a mammogram, eat well, limit you alcohol intake, exercise.....you will be doing the Very Best you can to maintain a healthy lifestyle and will have the very best chance of catching something Before it gets out of hand.
