Re: Ultrasound Breast ExamFrom: Barbara (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 6 May 1999 14:48:14 -0500 (CDT)
Dear Sasha, I have 2 relatives with breast implants. One is married to a breast cancer surgeon. (Got them before she got Him!) I have gone with her for her mammograms and it Does take an experienced radiologist familiar with implant patients and a bit of extra shots (sometimes) but I have never heard any complaints of pain. In fact we had ours together last year and went out to lunch afterwards.... Please don't listen to horror stories. Everyone has a different experience and I can only share the ones I know. But Do get your mammogram as it is extra important because it Is more difficult to get an accurate reading But with experience this can be done properly. Ultrasound is Usually done if a lump is found or suspected. It is usually a second step. Barbara who has had breast cancer
