Between a rock and hard placeFrom: Peggy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 1 May 1999 10:11:59 -0500 (CDT)
Last November was the worse period of my life. Heavy blding with clotting.December's period was normal 8 days, 2 of which are always heavy.Jan.was again normal. Feburary's abnormal.I made an appt. with my doctor. That was set for the last week of March. March's period was normal. The results of my exam were UTI-RX with sulfa x ten days. Anemia RX with 1 iron tablet a day. H+H 7/22.4 After another abnormal period in April I called my doctor an requested a repeat H+H 6.2/19.8 My doctor increased the iron to 3 pills a day. I was given an appt with an obgyn that day but 20 minuets later it was cancelled. I called my doctor to ask what to do next since the cancellation. I got rescheduled that day. I met with the gyn who explained several options. 1.Need for a endo biopsy. 2.Need for a ultrasound of pelvis 3. Need for more blood work. I asked the doctor if she could give me hormones to stop the onset of the next period. She said no, that that really wouldn't work long term. Then I asked about a hormone to shrink the supposed fibriod that was causing all the blding. She said she didn't have enough money to pay for expensive hormone shots. I was confused because I thought my insurance was covering my RX. Anyway she said my uterus was of normal size and the hormones I was talking about are given in cases of abnormal uterine sizes. I asked her about a blood transfusion since I was so anemic. She said since my hematacrit was 19.8 I am 1 degree away from qualifing for a transfusion. The endo biopsy was performed. Not pleasant! The doctor said I kicked her. My feet never left the stirups. She gave me Premarin 2.5mg 4x.s
-- a day for 21 days and cycrin 10mg once a day for days 17 thru u 21. BTW I was told if I get anymore anemic I could have a heart attack, stroke or seizures. I am also having a repeat done on a mamogram for a density in the left breast. Iam 45yr.s old an have never met this doctor before. Theres alot left out due to space considerations. I do not want to
