vaginal prolapsesFrom: Marye (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 29 Apr 1999 14:16:22 -0500 (CDT)
I had hyst.at age 35. I'm now 53. Two yrs. ago I had surgery which included enterocele repair and burch sling, ovaries removed, abdominal colposacropexy wiyh prolene mesh. About 8 wks. after surgery I had sharp pain in lower back, left buttock, hip, and thigh. It bothers me if I sit, walk, stand or lay down for a length of time. Was sent to ortopedic dr. who told me I had slight case of bursitis in my left hip and it would probably go away on it's own. 8 months after surgery I was diagnosed with a rectocele. At that time I was told I had a tender spot where the prolene mesh is attached to upper vagina. When examined the pain was sharp and intense. It's now 3 mos. since rectocele surgery and I'm still having problems.Pain in lower back, hip, and leg seems worse. I can now only sleep on my right side with 2 pillows between my knees.Sleep only last for few hrs. and I wake in pain. I now also have to go to bathroom every 2-3hrs.Sometimes only a dribble. I'm taking pain pills which only seem to help for few hrs. Do you have any idea what could be causing my continuing problems? I'd hoped I'd be better by now. Marye
