chronic vaginitisFrom: Anne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 28 Apr 1999 22:06:55 -0500 (CDT)
I have had chronic vaginitis for 2 years. The first year my test results came back positive on strep, yeast and many other infections. Now my test results are all coming back negative but the constant discomfort and burning on the outside has not abated. My doctor says the next step is a boipsy but that is something he doesn't want to put me through and I should see if it will just go away on its own. My husband and I have avoided contact, for 1 year, to insure it wasn't something were passing between us. We'd like to have a family soon but we really have to get over this hurdle. Any suggestions as to what else may be the problem? I use soaps that are hypo-allergenic, wear the cotton underwear... but nothing has helped. Sometimes the pain is so bad I can't sit down, other times it's nagging but bearable. It's always in the same region and I have very little discharge. It does not seem to lessen or increase with the onset of mestruation. I had been taking Alesse and Claritin long before this recurring infecion first appeared. I'm stumped! Any insight at all would be much appreciated. Thank You
