Marchbein, M.D.: "Re: Break through bleeding" I would appreciate it if you could tell me what the causes for break through bleeding are when on BCP. I've been on 3 different prescriptions since December and had no problems with BCP years ago before having my children. This is the first time in about 4/5 years that I've been back on it and I followed directions that stated to start on a Sunday, regardless of where you are in your cycle. My breakthrough happens about a week before it's 'due' according to the amount of pills left...and I did start the medication about a day into my cycle when I initially started taking BCP again.
