Ann,

My partner's mother, who is 60, has been on HRT and had spotting for a year. Her health care provider didn't want to do any tests....he said the bleeding was a side effect of the HRT and tried to adjust the dosage. She did recently now have a D&C and the diagnosis was uterine cancer. It is a virulent type and stage III. She has a 50% chance to live another 2 years.

In her case, in other words, they should have done more sooner. I think too many tests is better than what she is going through now.

What I would question, though, is why they don't give her anesthesia when they do the scrapings? Is there a good explanation for this?

Best wishes, and I hope your mother remains healthy.
