abnormal pap after hysterectomyFrom: Carolyn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 17 Apr 1999 16:38:18 -0500 (CDT)
One year after my total hysterectomy I got an abnormal pap result. I had the test repeated thinking the first had been a mistake. The second pap result was a high-grade SIL(class IV:Cin II-III). A Colposcopy was done and I saw a cyst that looked that a white-head. A biopsy was done, but when I called for the results, the nurse only told me to make an appointment with the doctor for "care options". The appointment is a week away and as you can imagine, I am a basket case. Is it normal to have an abnormal pap only a year after hysterectomy? I am taking estrogen. Can estrogen cause cancer on the cuff? Is it possible that the surgery itself has caused this?
