Abdominal Pain

Summer of 98 I began to have bloating/lower pelvic pain. While it seemed to be related to my cycle...a pelvic ultrasound revealed no ovarian cysts, etc., I ended up in the office of a gastroenterologist. He suspected irritable bowl and recommended tests. With a family history of Colon cancer (I AM 38 yr old female) we went for the colonoscopy. It revealed a tubular adenoma which was removed, and my doctor said this type of condition would not have caused the pain I have. While the major portion of the pain occurs after my period, not during, my gynocologist now thinks it is endometriosis. I have shooting pain in my pelvic area and leg area just below the pelvic area. What could this be?
