Yes, but wet nurses had generally had a baby themselves and either nursed two together or else maintained lactation after the first baby weaned (or, of course, died, as all too frequently happened). If you're asking if you could feed an adopted baby, yes, it is possible to induce lactation. Contact a lactation counselor for more assistance. If you are producing milk without having been pregnant or trying to induce lactation, then it could indicate a medical problem. (I think thyroid may be one possible culprit? The M.D.s will weigh in on this.)

Also, many women continue to make a little milk years after weaning a child. I have heard of women in nursing homes (no pun intended) who could still express a little milk. I was like this after weaning my twins until I got part way through another pregnancy, when it finally dried up.
