How long should pain last?From: alc (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Mar 1999 18:54:33 -0600 (CST)
I had a LAVH on Feb. 9, 1999, kept my ovaries. Hyst was for severe uterine prolapse. This also included a bladder suspension and rectocele repair. I am still having serious pain when I stand on my feet for more than 15 minutes. If I wear control top pantyhose or a girdle I can stand it longer (guess it's holding everything in place). The pain is very low, in the rectum and then to the front when I am on my feet. I also have pain toward the front where the bladder is, when I am trying to stand up. Is this normal after almost 2 months? When should I start to worry that something is not right. My surgery was very long (over 8 hours) and never have gotten a good explanation of why so long, other than my uterus was 3 times the normal size (no explanation as to why) and it was attached better than they thought(?), and they came very very close to doing an abdominal hyst. A urologist did the bladder suspension part of the surgery. I had to wear a supra pubic catheter for 10 days after the surgery. I am 40 years old, and am overweight, but have talked to others much more overweight than myself without these problems. Am I expecting too much because of all that I had done?
