Re: Endometrial Ablation -- Success Question.From: Barb (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Mar 1999 13:30:32 -0600 (CST)
Kathy: I had the roller ball type ablation but I believe the success rates are about the same. I had my ablation this past September. Bled quite heavily until the end of October (aaarggh). Bleeding finally stopped and in November I had a heavy period, but only 3-4 days in length. Then nothing in December (hurray) and only 1-2 days of spotting (pantiliner only) each month since. This was a major improvement for me (who once bled for four months straight). My gyn was concerned when he did the ablation because there was a lot of tissue to remove (he called it technically difficult). At the time I don't think he felt very confident that it would work so we're both really pleased with the outcome. I would give it several months (more than three) before I decided if it was a success. Feel free to email me if you have other questions.
