>I'm actually 6 months postpartum.(new computer) I have been doing kegels for 4&1/2 months, my ob wanted me to wait until things were well on there way to being healed before I started. I forgot to ask him how many or how long though.

&& Can you call his office and have his staff give you a call back w/the amount he'd like you to do? Might save you a trip in and a little money too.

I was not examined standing up but he did ask >me to "bear down" and he didn't say anything about it. At that time I had never heard of prolapses.

&& Hmmm..my gyn never asked me to bear down until AFTER I discovered my own prolapse at 3 weeks postpartum. I noticed it when I picked up my 2 year old and felt something move and get heavy down below. Hard to describe, but I new things weren't right.

Since giving birth I have been doing reading,in books and on this forum. Are there any symptoms I should watch for? Thanks a lot for your time! Nat

&& Just wondering why you've decided to do the research. Have you noticed anything out of the ordinary?

Things to look for:

I'm not sure if you've ever used a diaphragm, but if so, you might be familiar that things don't seem to be in the right place anymore. OR, if you can get a mirror (or you're very flexible) examine your introitus area (the opening to the vagina) and see if you see any vaginal material..bulges..etc that just don't seem ordinary. As for symptoms, if you've had any problems w/regular bowel movements or you have to relax in order to urinate or your bladder never feels empty OR it seems you have to go all the time...these 'could' be symptoms. Hard to say - prolapse doesn't act in any particular manner.

Do you have any of these symptoms at all?
