As for how long - prevention is always key so a woman should do kegels throughout her life to help maintain strength in the pelvic floor - not something that is discussed much though. I'm not sure how many is called for to 'maintain' but be sure they are being done correctly.
>(long pushing phase-2&1/2hrs.with a large mediolateral plus laceration) There is no sign of stress incontinence or any difficulty with intercourse. Thanks, Nat && Just a few questions. How many weeks postpartum and have you been examined by your obgyn standing up? Only way to tell even if mild prolapse has occurred. Hope it's not the case, but if you catch it in the mild stage, kegels can help tremendously. Incontinence is not the only symptom of pelvic problems nor is difficult sexual relations. Prolapsed organs tend to 'fall' back into place when laying down. Just some information - probably too much ;-)
