Lupron and Fibroids

I am 34 years old with an 11cm fibroid (otherwise healthy) and would eventually like to have children. I am scheduled for a conventional myomectomy to be perfomed on June 15. My gyno is recommending that I take 3 injections of lupron depot 3.75 ml. He says that he could perform the surgery without the hormone but he could not guarantee the outcome (i.e. higher risks).

I have read a significant amount of literature on Lupron and am quite concerned with the side effects (hot flashes, memory loss, bone density loss, etc). Unfortunately, there seems to be quite a lot of differing opinions on whether the benefits of shrinkage out way the side effects of Lupron. Would any of you be able to answer the following questions:

Are the risks of surgery associated with an 11cm fibroid that much greater than a 7 to 8cm fibroid (which is what my fibroid should shrink to when on Lupron)?

Is it possible to do a bikini cut on an 11 cm fibroid?

Would the incision on the uterus from an 11cm fibroid hurt my chances of pregnancy? Compared to an 8cm fibroid?

What kind of affects did any of you have with Lupron?

Thanks for any help on making a decision...Annette
