Atypical Proliferating Cystadinofibroma - History / ResearchFrom: Karen (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 23 Mar 1999 13:48:58 -0600 (CST)
Having had/have the subject disease, I had a hysterectomy and ovaries removed in Oct 97. My case was referred to Harvard, because what was found was so rare. I was told I am only 1 in 50 reported cases. I still have some of the endometriosis containing the atypical proliferating cystadinofibroma, and some of it was previously attached to my sigmoid colon. I was told that the disease is borderline-malignant. I now have to have annual laparoscopies to check for recurrence, metasticism, etc. The Pathology report sent to my GYN from Harvard indicated that anyone having this disease who also took hormone replacement therapy, had developed cancer. I am interested in ANY case history or other type of history on this disease, to include the types of cancer found in the above referenced cases, and I am also looking for any new research that has been conducted on this disease. I have acute menopausal symptoms, and am seriously thinking about taking HRT because of the severity, but would like to know all the facts about the disease. Can you help me out, or point me in the right direction? Thank you so much
