Sometimes in postmenopausal women (especially those NOT on hormones), teh cervix can become stenotic, or closed up. By very carefully dilating the cervix, starting with the smallest instruments, a hysteroscopy or boipsy can usually be done. For the woman with a severely stenotic cervix, another optiopn is to do an ultrasound; the thickness of the uterine lining can be measured -- a very thin lining is highly unlikely to have cancer in it.

Sorry, but personal e-mails will not be answered, due to time constraits and the desire to spend as much free time as possible with my husband and baby daughter
