Have A Question From A Friend: Progesterin & EndoFrom: Anna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 10 Mar 1999 21:28:29 -0600 (CST)
I have a friend that has a bad histry of endometriosis. She finally had a hysterectemy about 4 years ago. Today, we attended a seminar together on HRT. The man (a chiropractor) that held the seminar told her that unless she is taking progesterine, her endometriosis can come back. Even though she has had a complete hysterectemy. He said this is because she is now taking premerin and that increases her estrogen level and estrogen is the culprit of endometriosis. Is this true? Should she be taking progesterine, both, one or the other, or neither? Thank you for any information. It concerned me that she is actually considering this after hearing what a chiropractor said. I'm concerned for her because this man doesn't have a liscense to practice medicine (MD) and doesn't specialize in this area. It just seems strange to me to take this kind of advice seriously from a guy that pops bones all day. What do you think?
