I have sent several requests out for advice because my physcian says that adhesions are crowding my abdominal organs. I am fortunate to have an ob/gyn that hasn't given up hope. He has gotten in contact with different specialists and has formed a surgical team to do a very intensive operation. They say that the adhesions are causing several things to happen. (1) That my large and small intestines are being smashed so badly that I cannot digest food. Anything solid or even liquid that has substance to it comes right back up. Only clear liquids go all the way through. (2) Also, my spleen and liver are being effected. (3) In essence, they say that my body is shutting down because my organs no longer have any space left. The problem is that because I have had to have so many surgeries over the past few years, I can no longer handle being put under very well. A matter of fact the last two times they had to close early because my vitals dropped so low. And the very last time, they had to use the paddles and I was only under for about 1.5 hours. And they tell me that this surgery will take quite awhile to perform. Apparently, anywhere from 4 to 9 hours depending on the damage that this has caused. So virtually, I have to wait and pray. I'm on so many "boosters" to get my body built up that it isn't even funny. However, I understand them that this is my last hope. If this doesn't work then I probably will only have about 6 months to a year to live. At the present, we are hoping to wait for another 4 weeks before the surgery is performed. Basically, without it I definitely won't live and with it I may still not. To say the least I'm scared shitless. I'm only 28 and have two children. My kids are 5 and 8. If this doesn't work, I don't know how I'll handle it. Don't take this wrong, I'm not depressed just worried. I truely feel for you, because mine started with just a simple hysterectemy, and then my son fell on me about a week after surgery and ruptured just about every abdominal organ that I have. After several surgeries to repair the problems caused from the truama, they thought I had irritable bowel syndrome. Then they figured out that it was adhesions. Now, not only is it adhesions but they are underneith things and are so bad that nothing has room inside of me anymore. I look like I'm on death row. Since this whole thing began I have lost almost 150 pounds. I don't want this to make you panic. But rather a message not to give up. Go anywhere you have to, keep asking and asking. You will find a physician that truely cares. It took me over 3 years to find a doctor that cared enough to do my hysterectemy. I basically had every problem under Gods green earth (endo, fibroids, and heavy bleeding) then my cells started changing. They told me I have 4 years to get it out before I would be an official cancer patient. I barely made it, but I did find help. I can only say that, I owe my life to my doctor. A matter of fact, he even has retired, but has kept me on as his patient because he says that either he'll die or I will but he won't quit until its solved. No matter what we have to do, we'll do it together. I know this was lengthy, but there really is no short way to tell you about something like this. Feel free to e-mail me personally.
