Dear Jill, I can only give you a laypersons answer to your question. My children were all born before fetal monitors ultrasound checks and a lot of the great things we now have. At that time it was Usually the 3-4 month checkup where the physician heard the heart-beat and if we were lucky he/she gave us a chance to listen too. Now with a Doppler that's a whole new ball game. It's a wonderful invention and the thump thump of the babies heart is heard loud and clear a bit earlier. So all I can say Jill is, if the ultrasound has picked up a beating heart and the medical professional can hear a heartbeat try to trust them that they are telling you the truth. Why not ask them to let you put on the two person Stethascope and then when they locate the heatbeat you will be able to hear it too? Hang in there girl you have 30 weeks to go!!!!!!! Barbara
