I think that this is very much an overstatement. Ovarian failure rarely occurs at the time of hysterectomy, but after that, they should last pretty much as long as they would have without hysterectomy. I have seen some authorities suggest that they might fail a little early, but I cannot confirm that. Certainly, 50% failure in 5 years is grossly higher than I would expect.
