Ovarian failure rarely occurs at the time of hysterectomy, but after that, they should last pretty much as long as they would have without hysterectomy. I have seen some authorities suggest that they might fail a little early, but I cannot confirm that. Certainly, 50% failure in 5 years is grossly higher than I would expect.
