Stage IV Endo DiagnosisFrom: Linda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 28 Feb 1999 09:03:21 -0600 (CST)
I was diagnosed last month with Stage IV Endo through a laproscopy. I am 31 yrs old and have had painful periods since I was a teenager. The last few years however I only have a really bad period once every 3-4 months. And it is not as severe as it used to be. My gynecologist said the treatment if I do not plan to have children is to have a hysterectomy and if I do plan to have children, the treatment is to have conservative surgery and hormone treatments. He also suggested I do research on my own on the internet etc. I have been reading lots, but I'm still not sure what to do. I do not want to have a hysterectomy because my pain is not severe and I do not want to have to go through this major surgery. I have adhesions and endometriosis on my anterior cul-de-sac, my left tube and on both ovaries. My left ovary is lightly tethered to my sigmoid bowel. Do you think I can keep this disease (at this advanced stage)under control through hormone treatment only? If so, is there a particular kind of hormone I should try first? Thank you in advance for any comments, suggestions you can give. Linda
