Painful IntercourseFrom: Cathy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 26 Feb 1999 18:24:58 -0600 (CST)
I am looking for information. Some time ago I saw a program on TV where an English woman was treated for an extremely painful intercourse problem. I thought they called it something like 'Vagadinity' or 'Vaginal Divinity'. It was an inflamation of the tissue around the lower sides and bottom area of the entrance to the vagina, in a 'U' shape, which became painful during intercourse. This sounds very similar to the condition that I suffer from. I have spoken to my local GP and my GYNy - neither of whom have heard of it. Both suggest vaginismus and thrush. My GYNy found that there is actually a pocket inside my vagina which is painful when a thrusting pressure is placed upon it (repairable by surgery). A test revealed traces of thrush, but this isn't chronic, and no matter what I do it wont go away. I had a ceaser birth in 1996 and sex was fine for some time, not that I had the energy to participate very often. Then for no apparent reason sex became quite painful. I am overweight but have always been. My husband drinks about 3 long neck bottles of bear per night (I mention this because I thought the sugar/yeast in the bear could be creating thrush in his body and is being transferred to mine.) I have to be very careful after sex to keep myself immaculately clean (wash my vagina at least twice per day) to keep the thrush/itch at bay. No sex doesn't worry me a lot (physically) but it does worry my husband and sometimes he feels unloved and unattractive to me because of this. I try to reassure him that this is not true but when it is a continueing thing he becomes doubtful. When we do have sex and it is painful I cry from the pain and the frustration of not being able to have a normal sex life. No sex also leaves us open to disagreements and arguments and sometimes it gets so bad that I think separation is the only solution, but we're hanging on with all our might because we both love our son and don't want to end up wrecking his little life. If I could find the answer (surgical or not) I would happily do it. Please if anyone can give me some advice or tell me the name for this then I could take that and get some help for us.
