<< Each of the women who have this posterior cervical orientation have no cervical surgery history which would indicate IC, and each also experienced significant funneling during pregnancy. >> ****** The IC you mention can be caused by a surgical procedure on the cervix, but it can also be an inborn defect. The position of the cervix and uterus does not cause the IC. The chances are good that you will carry to near term if you stay down as your doctor asks you to do. In my experience all but one of my 'circlage' patients made it to at least 36 weeks. It was interesting that many of them had to be induced at term because their uterus did not go into good labor!

Good luck,
