My doctor wants me to have a colposcopy and I am doing that soon. I have been reading up about abnormal paps and am getting concerned about possible cancer and/or HPV. My dad recently died of prostate cancer so I am a little sensitive. I also began thinking about my contraceptive past. I had my 2 children young, used various IUD's for 7-10 years then finally had my tubes tied. Is there any link between prolonged use of an IUD and cancer or prolong IUD use and increased (HPV,yeast, etc etc) infections? Did I make a poor decision using an IUD for so many years?? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.
