two ectopic pregnancies, chances of a third?From: kooleii (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 17 Feb 1999 13:00:10 -0600 (CST)
Hi, I just recently had surgery for my second ectopic pregnancy. My doc removed the entire tube and checked the other tube and she said the other one is completely normal. I had PID from abuse as a young child which I was told scarred my tubes which is why I had my first ectopic at 17, and now this repeat nine years later. My questions are as follows: 1) can you have only one tube scarred and not the other? 2) can doing a hystosalpingogram tell if there is scarring (even minute) along with visualization through laparoscopy, and if so, how good are these methods for determining scar tissue? 3) if only one of my tubes was scarred (the first surgeon left the tube in for reconstruction, and my doc thinks it was the same tube that had the second ectopic because she said it was a mess)why haven't I gotten pregnant in nine years without birthcontrol until now and it happened in the same infected tube rather than the healthy one, I mean shouldn't I have gotten pregnant via the normal tube within the nine year period?? im asking because something doesn't seem right to me and no matter how much research I do I can't seem to find an actual answer to this question.. thank you for helping if you can
