Re: anti depressants and chronic pelvic painFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netTue, 16 Feb 1999 16:54:20 EST

I am sorry just a worry. ****** Please do not misunderstand this. Bowel adhesions commonly pull o the bowel and can compromise the lumen (opening) in the bowel and cause severe pain. This pain often comes in waves especially after eating. If the stricture is bad enough the bowel may twist and lose it's blood supply. This is a surgical emergency. I had a case where the woman had had a tubal ligation 5 years before I saw her. She had one (1) adhesion from the tube (middle) to the small bowel. The bowel twisted and lost its blood supply. 12 inches of bowel dies (gangrene). She survived because surgical intervention was prompt. She lost 15 inches of her small intestine, but she is alive and well now. Abdominal exam plus x-ray made the diagnosis. << but I do not think it is healthy for the transverse colon to be stuck to the pelvic floor anyway, I just hope to feel better soon. I guess after all female organs are out. You think your problems are over, seem like they are just beginning. ******* No this is not normal. It may cause problems -- then -- again, it may not!
I know that my GYN says he is at his wits end with me, does not know
what to do for me now, that is why I am going to pain clinic. I
probably will have a lap if things do not clear up in about 6 months,
been 5 months since LAPAROTOMY!
