A waste of money in a normal female. Why is it a waste of money? (And whose money are you concerned about?)

Most of this was in the original post. To repeat, the MD who did the
ultrasound describes it as a "cyst" that is "just under three inches"
and "looks like an endometrioma." It might be growing; on previous
ultrasound approximately 1 year ago, the same ovary had a cystic mass
about half that size. My OB-GYN could feel it on exam, which is why I
was sent for ultrasound, but he didn't say anything about exactly how it
felt.

Maternal grandmother had very early menopause at about 38 years (but
lived to 88 years, though she didn't have much of a clue what was going
on for the last 10 or 15). Not sure about mother, who had hysterectomy
at 47 from uncontrollable bleeding due to fibroids; I'm not certain if
that really was "menstrual" bleeding. My mother's relatives were
Dutch/German going back a couple of generations; father's parents came
from Italy, much sturdier stock I think--paternal grandmother lived
until 92 and barely ever saw a doctor. Dad's sister (still alive and
quite well, now about 76 years old) also had hysterectomy at midlife due
to problems with fibroids. (Dad's also still alive and well at 72; Mom
died at 66 of ischemic stroke.)
