2 Qs for Dr George: post-hyst period?From: Harriet (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 13 Feb 1999 14:01:49 -0600 (CST)
Dear Dr George, You ARE a teddy bear and we are so happy you found us. :-) I have two questions for you. The first is, I have been puzzled that you sometimes sign yourself "agape", but after some etymological digging, I dare to presume you don't mean "mouth open in wonder", but the derivation from the Greek of "(selfless) love". This seems far more appropriate for you! Am I correct? :-) Second, you joined the forum after I last posted on my own medical case, and I would be grateful for your opinion. I am 36, and had a supracervical hysterectomy (for fibroids and associated heavy bleeding) last September. Since then, I have a 2 day "miniperiod" every month, right on schedule. This is little more than a discolored discharge, very little in volume, and of a type/texture which was typical of my "first day" back pre-op (it was only after the 1st day that things got awful). Previous posts and my gyn have suggested that this is an occasional aftereffect of keeping the cervix and some small associated responding tissue. Does this match with your experience? It is at most a minor annoyance but it is still disconcerting to be having periods of any sort sans uterus. With many thanks, and a big hug, harriet
