Dr. George--first of all, thank you for your reply yesterday to my question about fibroids, endometriosis and menopause. I hear your message--I'm just wondering, is it automatically necessary to have (a) a laparotomy (b) removal of the entire ovary if you have a suspicious cyst?

I have had cystic gunk on both ovaries for a couple of years but it's always been described as looking like endometriomas on the sonograms. My doc noticed something on the left ovary today when examining me. I think he might have forgotten that I had it the last time he saw me (a year ago--yes, I know I should have gone back sooner). Anyway, he's instructed me to waste no time in making an appointment for ultrasound, so I'm just worrying about what decision(s) I will have to make if they don't like what they see this time.

Thanks again. Any further comments you may care to make would be appreciated. I still hate the idea of TAH/BSO, but I don't know how much of this what-if stuff I can take.
