Chris:

Without knowing exactly what your insides look like I am only guessing.

GUESS: The adhesions have been there since your other surgery. The Endometriosis has been growing on them and other areas thereby making more adhesions and/or aggravating the situation.

Endometrial implants lying over the ureter courses are difficult to handle. Endometriosis has a tendency to infiltrate these areas and to infiltrate the area of the ureter itself.

The ureters lie BEHIND the peritoneum. This is a thin (about 1/32 inch thick) sack (like a baggie) which holds the intestines. With the ureter so close to this sac the operative procedure is very risky. The Endometriosis usually does not the wall of the ureter (or Bowel) but it can grow on the surface of these entities and close them down by the scarring. When it is that severe one might have to remove a section of ureter to remove the Endometriosis. This cannot be done via a Lapscope.

Remember that every month the Endometrial implants bleed with your menses then they form scars. Repeating this cycle over and over again leads to scars (adhesions) forming.

Have you had an X-ray of your ureters?

Your doctor is the best person to prescribe the course of treatment and/or surgery. You are the best person to know whether you want a 'second opinion' or not.

Good luck,
