Re: IUD InsertionFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netSun, 31 Jan 1999 22:54:36 EST
Jas: IUDs are inserted through the cervix. It is an office procedure. There will be minimal discomfort and there should be NO pain! Once in a while women will have heavier periods for a month or two; some spotting can occur. Rare pregnancies can occur (IUD should be removed immediately upon the diagnosis of pregnancy (IMPORTANT). Side effects are rare and usually mild. The copper containing IUD is a good form of contraception. ============================================= *Note: Opinions expressed here are for educational purposes only.
