Maria + DH

You wrote this post -- these are MY comments:

>> Without the diagnosis of a professional, I could almost swear
that I was pg.

**** Look up 'pseudocyesis.'

>> My CM showed no signs of ovulation having occurred.

**** Cheap, accurate test. Also painless. Non-progesterone (from the egg scar on the ovary) mucous 'ferns' when dry because of the high NaCl (salt) it has within it.

>> Basically, my Dr. thinks it might be anovulation (lack of progesterone
in the second phase of my premenstrual cycle for those who just found that they have it like me). I have never been a regular "cycler" (28-50) but I always get my period. I can only attribute this cycle to stress.

**** Normal cycle 21 to 32 days.

>> I was given 5 mg tablets of Aygestin (Norethindrone acetate) to induce
my period. I understand this Progestin is used to treat menstrual disorders.

**** It is used to treat the lining of the uterus to help it shed and start fresh. It must be used in conjunction with Estrogen. It replaces the progesterone you did not produce.

>> One final question for the Professionals: What symptoms can I expect to
have if I am taking the Aygestin pills for the next five days?

**** No serious side affects. Think positively. Studies using real time glucose brain scans show that 'what a person thinks' can affect to functioning of the brain. Very interesting. There is a recent book published on this subject. THINK POSITIVELY!

**** Your doctor is simulation the normal cycle of Estrogen for a few days followed by a few days of Progesterone. If your uterus is normal you should have a period. Sometimes the first artificially induced bleeding (it is NOT menses) is heavier than normal because the lining has been over stimulated by the high estrogens you have had because of not ovulation, therefore, it is thick and has a larger volume that normal endometrium.

**** If you do not bleed after this treatment will give your doctor a lot of diagnostic information.

**** It sounds like your doctor is 'On The Ball.'

>> but will my PMS symptoms worsen?

**** Will your PMS symptoms get worse. I don't know. We do not know what causes PMS. Some studies seem to show that "sudden lowering of the blood Estrogen level" leads to PMS symptoms. (Note that this is SUDDEN LOWERING OF THE LEVEL) Progesterone is an antiestrogen.

**** I found that PROZAC works well to treat PMS.

I am worried and wanted to have a "heads up" on what to expect.

**** Try to relax. What will be will be? Good luck. **** Who is DH - does it refer to baseball?
