To whom it may concern,

My name is Andrew and I am a college student. Recently my girlfriend has come down with a condition which has caused a swelling in a gland in her vagina. Apparently the doctor told her that this gland is responsible for secreting vaginal fluid. The doctor also said that this swelling was caused by a bacterial infection that clogged up this gland and did not allow it to secrete fluid. She was given some medicine to alleiviate this problem. Appearently the doctor, who is an STD expert, said that this condition is not well known. Anyway, my girlfriend said that the doctor mentioned that i should go get checked out myself. Honestly i am a bit scared. I know that this is a women's health forum, but i was wondering if iam am infected with something how would i know? My girlfriend and i have practiced both oral and vaginal sex. She mentioned to the doctor that I do get a cold sore on my mouth about once a year (oral herpes i guess). However i have not had it recently, or when she has been around. I was wondering does this have anything to do with her condition. I was also wondering if i have anything to worry about. I am planning on going to a doctor on campus but I was just wondering if i could get any information from another professional before i go. Thank you for your time
