irregular periods/pain on BCP

Hi. I am 28 and went to the doctor last year because I had been having spotting between my periods for about 3-4 years. My periods were also heavy with cramping and diahrea (sp?). She put me on BCPs (orthocyclen) which eliminated the spotting and reduced the cramping and diahrea. After about four months on the BCPs, I started having achy/sharp left sided pelvic pain most days of the month. I still have the pain and my last two periods have been really different than before (just a dark discharge). This last period, the pain was so bad before my period, that is woke me up in the middle of the night. I have also felt really tired and have been having night sweats about once a week. I think most of these problems are related to the BCPs, but with the pain seemingly getting worse, I don't know if this is something that should wait until my next annual (9 months) or should I call a doctor now for a checkup.

Thanks for your help.
