Hysterosalpingography

I have to undergo hysterosalpingography next week and am terrified for I heard that it's very painful, esp. if the cervix is very inelastic, like mine is. (Even a simple IUI was agonizingly painful) Has anyone out there gone thro' this procedure? How can the pain be minimised? Can this be substituted by laproscopy? Someone please answer!!!
