Should a woman take the pill just to cut ovarian cancer risk?

I am in my early forties and having some perimenopausal symptoms. I still have regular ovulations and regular periods. I have read about women going on the pill until menopause and that by doing so it can decrease the risk for ovarian cancer. Due to fibroid tumors I have transvaginal ultrasound yearly and I do tend to show follicle cysts of 2-3cm on the ovary but nothing abnormal. Do women on the pill have less ovarian cancer? Would a woman my age benefit from not ovulating? I have had three pregnancies.
