In response to Dr. HillFrom: Ann (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 5 Jan 1999 22:09:48 -0600 (CST)
Although I will miss your comprehensive answers to medical questions, I do understand your decision. You have to make judgements in your life about how much stress you want. If reading these crazy posts really upsets you (which I assume it does) then you have to decide if it's worth it. I have a group of doctors that my husband and I write software for. I will go to their office at night to do computer work and there is always a doctor there. They work insane hours. Not only are they fine doctors, but they stay late watching after sick babies in NICU, doing research or writing for their next book or paper, fighting insurance companies for their patients, etc. At times, I have needed to remind them of the time so they will get home in time to put their children to bed. It is a hard job. It's a lot harder than just showing up and being a good doctor for patients. It's hard on families. And I can't imagine working this hard and then volunteering your time to this forum. Please don't feel that your work here was in vain. You helped me quite a bit. If you remember, I was bigoted towards male doctors. I was going to leave my male doctor who was wonderful to me. Your response caused me to really think about what I was doing. Your words kept me from making a huge mistake. I have ongoing OB/GYN problems and I'm so glad I have a great doctor to help me through this. Thank you so much. I wish we could screen out all the nutty messages but the Internet doesn't work like that. Also if things were censored, some women might not ask certain, necessary questions. I'm so sorry. Women who hate male doctors are irrational, sexist, misinformed, bigoted, and missing out on some of the best doctors out there. You are one of the best. Thank you for your kindness. Ann
