complicated endocrine mess

I know this is way too complicated for most but I'm hoping there's somebody out there who knows enough about endocrinology, gyn., and metabolism to come up with something. Here goes: I had thyroid cancer as a teen (metasticized to cervical nodes but never went any further). Simultaneously had Hashimotos. Parathyroids were damaged and died altogether about 10 years later. I've been taking synthroid and synthetic vit. D (DHT) for decades along with calcium gluconate. All levels monitored regularly and kept within normal (blood) levels. Also carry a vague diagnosis of "Undifferentiated connective tissue disorder" due to very high ANA and joint problems (Lupus ruled out). Have osteophytes all along spinal colume and osteoarthritis in other joints as well. I'm 47 and now in the midst of the peri-menopause years. Just learned I have pretty serious osteoporosis - particularly in the spine - greater then 2 standard deviations - possibly due, in part, to long-term use of synthroid. My MD tells me I have a 4x greater then normal risk of spinal fracture at this point. I'm told Fosamax or Estrogen are the treatments of choice. I don't want either. I have a great many intestinal problems (wheat allergies, sensitivities, etc.) and a great many allergies (serious) to drugs so Fosamax frightens me. I certainly don't want Estrogen given the cancer history ( not to mention a maternal aunt who died of mestastatic breast cancer) yet I know things are only going to get worse as I enter menopause and my estrogen levels plummet. I don't know where to turn at this point. Wondering if perhaps natural progesterone cream might help. Anybody out there have any good ideas?
