Abnormal BleedingFrom: Lisa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 31 Dec 1998 12:59:12 -0600 (CST)
I have had hormonal problems off and on for the last 2-3 years. I began taking estrogen after blood tests showed undetectable estrogen levels on day 1 of my period. I have been using this HRT regimine (I take progesterone on day 16 through the first couple of days of my period) for approximately 8 months with no problems whatsoever. Recently my gyn decided that I should try the Mircette birth control pill to see if this would give me the same results as the estrogen/progesterone combiniation I have been using. I was on the pill for a couple of days but I began to some emotional symptoms (crying and depression) and at one point both feet went numb. I stopped using the Mircette and have since resumed my HRT regimine. My last period which began on December 15 lasted approximately 5 days then ended as usual. On December 27 (day 13 - around ovulation time) I began having my period again. The bleeding is stickier and not extremely heavy but just the same has me very concerned. Based on the above description does it sound as if this could be due to an improper ovulation or is it more likely due to the stoppage of the HRT for those few days? Any input would be greatly appreciated. BTW, this is the first time I have ever experienced breakthrough bleeding. Thanks again!
