Destroyed cilia?From: Jane (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 29 Dec 1998 17:13:55 -0600 (CST)
Last March I was hospitalized with an ovarian and tubal abscess. As a result I lost my left ovary and tube. Now I would like to become pregnant but my doctor (who is wonderful) has told me there is a chance that the infection may have caused the cilia to become destroyed and could either cause the sperm to not be able to swim up or, if I do become pregnant, there is risk for an ectopic pregnancy. I was just wondering what you think about my chances for successful pregnancy (without IVF)? We are starting inseminations this month (because I have scar tissue over my cervix from a previous laser cone biopsy). I know that you have no details about my situation but was just wondering if there is more I should know about abdominal infection and fertility. Thank you.
