VERY Embarrassing Question...(This is not a joke.)From: Jess (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 29 Dec 1998 15:14:06 -0600 (CST)
Please don't misinterpret my concern as a joke. I am too embarrassed to ask anyone this question for fear of being laughed at. I am scheduled for my first visit with a gyn and I'm nervous. I went to Gyn101 here, and that helped a lot. One fear still remains: Obviously the exam is clinical and sterile, and there's NOTHING remotely good about it, but (no laughing!) I am VERY sensitive there and am terrified of my body 'reacting' to being examined. I certainly don't expect to have an orgasm or anything, but I'm still scared about my body 'reacting' in even the slightest way. I think I would die of embarrassment on the spot. Am I making too much of this? Does this actually happen to some women? This is the main reason I've put off seeing a doctor. I've actually cancelled appointments in the past because of this fear...or maybe it's just stupidity! Any comments will be appreciated. I really need some thoughts before my appointment next week. Thank you.
