spotting and the Pill

I am a 29 year old, healthy, non-smoking woman who has always had regular periods. A few years ago, I went on the Pill (sorry, I don't remember which one) and I experienced spotting for four months--at which time I went off of it. About a year ago, I went back on the Pill (Nordette) and was fine for the first three months and then began spotting again. I would spot about every other month. My doctor has just changed my perscription to Demidum (I'm not sure that's the correct spelling). I have been on the new prescrpition for a week and the spotting has started again. Is it normal to spot when you change perscriptions or is this a sign that this prescription will also not work?
