Hi, I am a 40 year old caucasion woman; I have had ongoing pain in the genital area for many years now. To be honest, I have given up on the posibility that this pain will ever go away. Some days it is so bad that to wear restrictive clothing is just not possible. I am wondering if anyone knows of a good specialist in this field, near where I live ? I'm in B.C. Canada, near Vancouver. I have lived on my own now for over 8 years, with no significant other in my life durring these years.

I find this to be the most embarasing subject to talk about, and I'm sure that I am not the only one that feels this way either.

I am tired of feeling like some wierd person, and looked at like I'm crazy. I gave up many years ago in trying to get proper help due to the often ignorant attitudes of those doctors that I should have been able to trust. It was not until I saw a program some time ago that I realized Volvodynia is a misunderstood syndrome, afflicting many woman. It is often left untreated for many years if at all; due to the arcaic attitudes of some (not all) doctors, that try to make the afflicted person feel like they are either responcible, or they are just frigid and "it is all in your head, relax, try different this, or do that." And if these ideas don't work, then either I am the failure, or I'm the provebral hyperchondriact. These types of doctors couldn't be futher from the truth! But the emotional damage left along the way, is equal to phycological genocide. I have been forced to live with this debilitating pain, for more than 20 years now; due to, the arrogant attitudes of those doctors with the GOD complex.

Any information, and or suport system near to me, in the area of either Abbotsford, Vancouver or Fraser Valley B.C. would be sincerely apprieciated.
