I had a hysterectomy back in '94 (ovaries in place) and at 45 began experiencing symptoms of menopause. Hot flushes, insomnia, night sweats etc. and was prescribed Premarin 0.625. This definitely helped regulate the body temps but has made me a little irritable, moody and increased my apppetite substantially etc. I try to control my eating because of the rapid weight gain 6lbs in a couple of weeks! I am 5.0", weigh approx 96lbs, thin, fair-skinned, European descent all the characteristics for the high risk group, and because of the Ostepenia diagnosed in October I am on Calcium supplements which seem to be producing a lot of pain and stiffness in the joints. My doctor recommends I stay on the Calcium because of my condition.... any idea what is causing the pain and stiffness? Could it be linked to the calcium supplements? Would the Premarin be enough to control the Calcium loss or is there another HRT that boosts this aspect without undesirable side effects? I am considering discontinuing the calcium supplements because of the pain and stiffness. Would be interested in your answers or hearing from someone with a similar situation ... I feel like a geriatric some days! Thanking you in advance for your response.
