Do you use a computer regularly? Or some other type of repetitive motion (like painting, playing a musical instrument, sewing)? This is just a guess, but if you do any of those things you could get a repetitve stress injury. That is what carpal tunnel syndrome is grouped under. I had it from computer use about 2 years ago.

Of course, it could be anything. You really need to go to your doctor immediately. Numbness is a very important symptom that should never be ignored. If you don't fix whatever is wrong, you could have permanent damage. Please don't ignore this.
