Post-Hysterectomy Bleeding

An hour or so after my two week post-op appointment, I started bleeding as if I were having a menstrual period. Two days later I was still bleeding and went back to see the doctor about it. Even though I removed a blood soaked tampon in the exam room right before the doctor came in to see me, there was no blood to be found on the cotton swab he inserted. He said it was probably a burst blood vessel and I went home. By the time I got home, I was bleeding again and still am. I'm supposed to go for another post-op appointment in four weeks. Should I just wait and see if the bleeding stops? I'm afraid the bleeding will mysteriously stop again if I go back to my doctor about it. It was embarrassing enough the first time so if it's not unusual or anything to worry about, I'd rather wait and see.
